What everyone has been speculating and whispering about for months has finally come true. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is going to be released this year and it will come out October 12th, 2018.

This is going to be a groundbreaking game as the rumor mill is saying this is going to be like last year’s game Call of Duty WWII. This means it’s going to be a boots on the ground game. Think about this for a minute. No jetpacks, no flying off into space battles just the gritty and raw combat that made up the first game.

We also have a trailer for the announcement and there are three things that can be taken away from it:

  • It shows that the logo was made out of steel for this video. Why and is that relatable to the game we don’t know.
  • There is a message about a community reveal on May 17th, 2018.
  • And the phrase: “Forget what you know” at the end of the video.

There is speculation that the game will take place in 2020 between Black Ops and Black Ops 2 as opposed to being set in the past during the Vietnam/Cold War era. Personally I want to see some of the gritty operations in the world that we don’t know about in this game. Fictional scenarios such as a bunch of Black Ops team members being dispatched to North Korea to help stop the launch of a nuke headed for the United States.

There is also no word as of yet about multiplayer or if there is going to be a zombie mode attached to the game. However, Treyarch is heading up the development of this game and they have not left a zombie mode out of it. What I would love to see is a zombie mode set deep in the jungles of South America where you not only have to contest with the undead but a Mayan temple that is rife with traps and devices to keep you and the undead out…or something else in.

All I know is that E3 is months away and I am already excited by this news and if this is coming out who knows what else we’ll be getting by the time the show draws closer. Are you excited for this new entry in the Call of Duty series? Leave a comment below!
