Fear the Walking Dead returns August 21 and picks up shortly after the events of the mid-season finale. With the Abigail compound in ruins, the Clark, Salazar and Manawa families are forced to walk separate paths. Truly fractured for the first time, family allegiances are put to the test as well our heroes’ will to survive.

After the fiery conclusion of Fear’s sophomore half season, Grotesque hits the reset button. New characters, scenarios and dangers are introduced pushing the narrative to new heights. The landscape has shifted and as the show moves into the second half of the season echoes of the world already established in The Walking Dead begin to come into focus.

Fear the Walking Dead continues to focus on family and the struggles associated with maintaining those bonds amid a world of chaos. AMC has released the next three episodes to the media and they’re loaded with guilt, angst and heartbreak. Not only is the world around the Clarks, Manawas and Salazars in total disarray but so too are they. Nick, truly alone for the first time, continues his odyssey of self-discovery in a violent world fraught with danger. Madison battles guilt and self-doubt as she struggles to reunite her fractured family and a hobbled Travis is confronted with horrors that shake his world to its core.

The new characters are welcome additions to the show and help drive the narrative in interesting and thought provoking ways. Subtle hints indicate that there’s much more to what has been revealed so far. The Mexican setting brings a different worldview and tone to the show and promises to change viewers’ perception of everyone involved, including the walkers.

Fear the Walking Dead makes a triumphant return and if the next few episodes are any indication, the second half of Season 2 will continue to establish the show as a worthy addition to The Walking Dead mythos.

The highly anticipated mid-season premiere of Fear the Walking Dead season two will premiere on Sunday, August 21 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
