Review: Briggs Land #2

briggs-land_2Briggs Land is becoming one of the best comics that Dark Horse has come out with in quite some time. The reason it is getting a good following is because of the shows that it reminds people of. From Sons of Anarchy to a great show called Outsiders, this comic has everything for people who are suffering from withdrawal from these shows. In spite of all that, is the 2nd issue worth picking up or should you just skip it and check out another title?

The issue starts out with the head of the family, Grace Briggs addressing Isaac who was shot during the raid on the house at the end of the last issue. Isaac apologizes to her saying that he just could not pull the trigger, as he was tired of doing that over and over in the war he was fighting. Grace tells him not to worry about it but to come downstairs and to have her back during the impromptu meeting she has planned over breakfast. The Briggs family is shaken as an unknown enemy has attacked them inside their own home. We see the house being repaired and security being beefed up as they may expect another attack as Grace addresses her family. She wants people to commit to her cause if not for her own sake then for the sake of the children. One by one they commit as they try to figure out who was behind this attack. The rest of the book is filled with the Briggs family following up on a lead but to find out what happens next you will need to read the book.

This book is just starting to get good and I have a feeling that things from here on out are going to be messy. Will Grace be able to keep the family together or will forces from outside as well as close to her try to tear the family apart? All I can say is I have read and re-read the first two issues and I cannot wait for the next one. Go to your local store and check this one out folks and until next week keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
