KIM HONG SUN AND PETER MCKENNA JOIN THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED THIRD SEASON OF SKY AND AMC+’s CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED GANGS OF LONDON

PRODUCED BY PULSE FILMS

NEW YORK – October 17, 2023 – Season 3 of the Sky and AMC+ global hit Gangs of London has kicked off production with this season masterminded by two creative talents new to the Gangs of London family: Lead Director and EP, Kim Hong Sun (Project Wolf Hunting) and Lead Writer and EP, Peter McKenna (Kin).

The high-octane BAFTA-winning and Emmy-nominated series, produced by Pulse Films, will see Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and Joe Cole reprise their roles as Elliot Carter and Sean Wallace, picking up from the cliff-hanger ending of Season 2.

In Season 3 of Gangs of London, ex-undercover cop turned gangster Elliot (Dìrísù) is now operating as a top-level criminal alongside the Dumanis, but their business is thrown into chaos when their shipment of cocaine is spiked, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians all over London. The ensuing chaos attracts attention from the authorities, putting the gangs of London under pressure like never before and the ripple effects – both personal and professional – will have devastating consequences for everyone from the Wallaces, to Luan, to Lale and the street gangs. This was a targeted attack and it’s only the beginning, but the question is – who did it and why?

Taking the helm as Lead Director and Executive Producer for the eight-part third season of Gangs of London, Kim Hong Sun is a familiar face on the international film circuit, with a number of popular Korean film and television credits under his belt. Following the 2012 release of the gritty organ dealing thriller, Traffickers, his feature film directorial debut, Hong Sun was awarded Best New Director Award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.

Joining Hong Sun as a creative lead on the project is acclaimed writer and showrunner, Peter McKenna, who boards as Lead Writer and Executive Producer. McKenna is an award-winning executive who was both the creator and showrunner of multi-season drama KIN for AMC+ and RTE, starring Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne, Aidan Gillen and Ciaran Hinds. As well, Irish crime drama, Red Rock, a four seasons drama for TV3 which was also acquired by BBC and Amazon Prime Video. His list of writing credits includes The Gloaming (ABC Studios/STAN), The Last Kingdom (Netflix), and Around The World in Eighty Days (BBC/ZDF/Canal+) starring David Tennant.
