Traits Included For New Xbox One Update
Author: S.A.

Microsoft has it’s update for the Xbox One heading our way, and they have dubbed it the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. The overhaul to the systems OS will head into its preview phase by the end of May and early part of June. All major OS changes will be announced at this years E3.

According to Gamespot, one of the coolest features that are geared to be added in this update is the feature to turn any Xbox One into a development kit. Mike Ybarra from the Windows and Xbox division sent out a tweet confirming the upcoming build.

The devkit feature is a huge jump for Xbox One, and has been something discussed since the drop of the system. It’s a huge feature for the console to have, as it would allow indie developers the ability to work on games directly on the Xbox One. Which in turn would get them past certification and approval roadblocks that would normally need to be jumped by these developers. It could make everything much more streamline for developers and give Microsoft a leg up on the competition.

Another expected feature for the next OS update includes the ability to run background music. This has been requested for quite sometime, as it was a feature on the previous console and it not being included on the Xbox 360 was a let down for many gamers. Not only is background music slated to return, but Cortana is going to be introduced to the system as well. The AI assistant is already available on Windows Phones and as such the leap to Xbox One is long overdue. For those of you not in the know, Cortana made her appearance in Bungie’s longest running game, Halo. The character has no become a cross media individual, and has snuck her way into the gaming world permanently.

The above is only a taste of what Microsoft has leaked to the public in regards to their updates, and one can only hope that they have a slew of new features coming with this round of updates.

Stay tuned to find out.
